The French Italian Connection
The Vivaldi Project explores the distinction and convergence
between the Italian and French schools of violin
playing. Quintessentially French composers Lully and Campra share
the program with Vivaldi and the Italian and French trained Georg
Muffat. Late baroque symphonies by Louis Aubert and Louis-Gabriel
Guillemain conclude the program, revealing the increasing French
cultivation of "Le Goût italien."
